How to properly install your player box?

You are about to receive, or have already received, one or more Cenareo boxes to install on your screens. The purpose of this guide is to walk you through the entire commissioning process. It brings together practical tips, operating instructions, and troubleshooting advice for an optimal installation of the Cenareo solution.

1. Pack contents

Once the environment is fully prepared, all that's left is to open the box shipped by Cenareo to get started. Each box contains everything needed to install your new player, and you will find:

  • A Cenareo player user guide

  • A Cenareo player

  • A power supply to connect the player to an outlet

  • Four adhesive hook-and-loop (Velcro) strips to secure the player

  • An HDMI cable

  • Various cabling labels

  • A player barcode label (CM0000XXXXXXXX)

  • Two screen labels

2. Prerequisites for proper player operation

A properly functioning player must meet the following requirements:

  • PLAYER POWER SUPPLY: The player must be properly powered to operate. It must remain constantly powered on.

  • PLAYER INTERNET CONNECTION: The player must be connected to the Internet via a Wi-Fi or wired connection.

  • CONTENT CONFIGURATION: The videos displayed on the screens via the player are configured using the Cenareo platform.

  • LINKING THE PLAYER TO THE SCREEN: In order to display content on a screen, the player must be connected to the screen via its HDMI input.

3. Installation and safety instructions

To guarantee that the player continues to work and that your content remains broadcasted and up to date, these instructions ensure an appropriate environment:

  • It is recommended to position the player away from heat sources.

  • Preferably, position the player in an accessible location to facilitate its replacement (if necessary) and identification.

  • During installation, check that cables are not taut and that they do not trail across a walkway.

  • Do not use cables other than those provided with the player, except for the RJ45 cable required for a wired network connection.

  • To avoid any incompatibility, any additional equipment used for the player installation must be approved, validated, and certified by Cenareo to ensure a reliable and optimal operation of the solution.

  • Install the player at a height that does not require the use of a ladder, making accessibility easier in the event of maintenance.

4. Connecting thepPlayer and configuring the screen

Simply follow these steps to get your player-screen system working as quickly as possible:

  1. Connect the micro-USB cable and the HDMI cable to the player.

  2. Connect both the player and the screen to a power source. Then, connect the HDMI cable from the player (A) to the screen (B).

  3. Turn on your screen and ensure that it is broadcasting your content.

5. Player internet connection

An internet connection for the Cenareo player is essential to enable the following features:

  • Content updates

  • Software updates

  • Remote player control

  • Real-time communication with our platform

Depending on the network type you wish to connect the Cenareo player to, here is how it works:

Wi-Fi player connection

As soon as it is powered on, the player will automatically connect to the network that was configured on the platform and transmitted to the player beforehand.

Wired Player connection

Connect the RJ45 cable to the player. This cable must already be plugged into an Ethernet port on your network rack/Switch/Box/Router/Wall outlet.

ℹ️ You can also review this guide for more details when connecting your player. Before any installation, it is essential to check the availability and proper configuration of the Wi-Fi or Ethernet network to which the player will be connected. These parameters are generally communicated beforehand and configured directly onto the player in our workshop during its preparation phase.

Any modification to the network (password change, IP assignment change, etc.) or installation setup (cable change, VLAN change, etc.) can cause the player to disconnect.

6. Adopting best practices

To guarantee an environment perfectly adapted to your installation, simply follow these best practices:

Screen and player labeling

Each player has a unique serial number. This number is located on the front of the box and begins with "CM". The player comes with labels:

  • One featuring the CM serial number

  • Two featuring the screen name, which allows for easy identification of the screen and its player.

Securing the player

The bottom base of the player features four hook-and-loop patches. The player is delivered with four additional patches that have an adhesive side. These strips allow you to position and secure the player on any type of surface.

Equipment labeling

Each player is delivered with multiple labels. They serve to:

  • Identify CENAREO equipment and cabling.

  • Make it easier to diagnose a breakdown caused by an unplugged cable.

  • Deter anyone from unplugged a cable connected to your screens.

  • Deter anyone from changing the position of a circuit breaker connected to your screens.

7. Help & Diagnostics

Installation is a self-guided procedure, but it can become complicated due to multiple factors. This section aims to assist you as much as possible:

Common Issues

This list presents the most common problems, explaining their possible causes and offering the solutions recommended by CENAREO. (see image)

LED Indicator chart

Ensure that the LED lights (red and green) are lit up exactly as shown in the diagram images:

  • The red light must be static and indicates the player's power supply status.

  • The green light must blink and indicates that the player is operating.

Player Diagnostics

This page allows you to find out your player's connection status to help you restore its operation. You can access it by following these steps:

  1. Go to your player's diagnostic page.

  2. In the search bar, enter your player's serial number (CM0000XXXXXXX).

  3. The player's connection status will switch to Connected within a few minutes.

  4. If the connection status is Disconnected, check your installation's connections as well as the proper functioning of your network.
