Preparing and importing media into the platform

This guide helps you choose the correct file formats and adhere to size and duration limits to ensure optimal content delivery on your screens.

This guide is essential to ensure your videos, images, and documents are compatible with the Cenareo platform, helping you avoid upload errors and display issues. Following these formats and limits ensures smooth and fast playback on your players.

Check maximum file sizes

Each file imported into the platform must respect specific size and duration limits to guarantee optimal performance.

  • File Size: Limit each file to a maximum of 2 GB.

  • Video Duration: The platform supports videos up to 2 hours per file.

Choose the optimal video format

Use the most compatible format for your videos to reduce the risk of issues across different screens.

  • Recommended Format: Use MP4 for maximum compatibility.

  • Secondary Supported Formats: If necessary, the platform accepts other major formats (MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM, OGG/OGV, WMV, FLV) and specialized formats (3GP, MPEG, MTS, VOB, etc.).

Select the best image format

Choose your image format based on its content (photo, logo, transparency) to optimize visual quality and file weight.

Image type

Recommended Format

Description

Complex photos

JPEG (.jpeg, .jpg)

Ideal for detailed images.

Transparency/Quality

PNG (.png)

Preferred for images with transparent areas.

Logos/Illustrations

SVG (.svg, .svgz)

Recommended for vector graphics (maximum quality at all sizes).

Animation

GIF (.gif)

Supports lightweight animations.

Use document formats

Display various documents directly on your screens. Always check readability before publishing.

  • Presentations: Use .pptx or .pps.

  • Spreadsheets: .xlsx, .xls, and .ods formats are supported.

  • Text: Use .doc, .docx, .pages, .html, or .txt.

  • Other: The .wlmp format is also supported.

Best Practices

Optimize PDF Documents

To ensure the best quality and fidelity of your PDF documents on screen, embed your fonts. Make sure all fonts are embedded directly within your PDF files.

Check Content Readability

Reading on a signage screen is different from reading on a computer.

  • Evaluate Presentations: Check the readability of your presentations (.pptx, .pps) on a test screen.

  • Adapt Spreadsheets/Text: Ensure that content in spreadsheets (.xlsx, .xls) and text documents (.doc, .docx) is large enough and has sufficient contrast to be read from a distance.

Set display duration

Control how long content remains on screen if it does not have its own intrinsic duration (like a video).

  • Images and Shared Media: If no duration is specified, the image or media will display for a default of 10 seconds.

  • Adjust Duration: You can modify this default duration in your content settings if you prefer a longer or shorter display time.
